Loughborough College Institute of Technology

The Brief

The proposed Loughborough College expansion comprises the construction of a high-quality new build to provide dedicated facilities to support the new Institute of Technology.

The Design

With a gross internal floor area of over 1452m², the new centre enables the provision of a range of specialist laboratories and computing suites, supporting a wide range of engineering disciplines with an emphasis on sustainable engineering. These spaces are supported by a number of flexible general teaching and seminar spaces. Self guided study and collaboration space is also provided, this being an essential part of the Institute of Technology’s ethos to foster innovative teaching and learning, interdisciplinary working, and engagement with industry and employer partners.

The Outcome

Developed in collaboration with the University of Loughborough, the proposed new IoT facility is a critical part of the vision to support the development of higher level technical skills focused on the needs of industry. The building was completed in 2025.
