Studio School is a performing arts focused secondary school in the heart of Walsall.
The Brief
A new facility was required to provide additional learning space for the exisiting secondary school. Unanimous planning consent was granted at committee for the school to be built on a town centre brownfield site, previously a local mill which burned down in 2007.
The Design
Designs for the addition of a new building to provide specialist teaching spaces were developed with great attention to detail. Stakeholder engagement took place over the course of the development stages to ensure the provision fully met the needs of staff and students.
The refurbishment of the existing Goldmine Centre will also go ahead.
The Outcome
Working with Tilbury Douglas Construction, the £8m project started on site early in 2021 and completed in August 2022.
