Longcroft School and Sixth From College

Beverley

Back to Education Sector

Modern off-site contruction methods supported a sustainable approach.

The Brief

Part of the Priority School Building Programme 2 (PSBP2) and funded by the Department for Education, the school required additional accommodation and consolidation due to being extended across two separate sites.

The Design

The design was developed to complement the existing post war school building. Additional accommodation for the school included a state of the art science department, library, student study area and reception.

The Outcome

Using modern off-site contruction methods supported a sustainable approach and was key in meeting a demanding construction programme. The decision to use SIPs hugely reduced the impact on the live school environment.

The new block provides three floors of teaching space, including science labs and preparation rooms, a student reception, a learning resource centre and teacher workrooms.
