David has recently taken on the role of chairman, alongside a reduced role in office management activities. In this new position David maintains a strong leadership role in the strategic direction of the business and with this he is supporting directors and staff with mentoring and coaching work.
His 35 years’ experience in design and project management continues to be called upon in a project leadership role for specific clients and projects.
During his early career David was heavily involved in academia which resulted in various publications and exhibitions on the work of Sir Owen Williams. His research activities for his PhD on the engineering influences of interwar architecture, brought him the reputation of the first publisher on the work of Owen Williams and in the course of his studies he was lucky enough to get to know Ove Arup personally, one of David’s 20th Century heroes.
Outside work David is a keen walker and he spends much of his spare time in the Lakes with his partner Jo and their dog Ralph (a recent addition). He has also taken up the saxophone passing his Grade 5 with merit in December 2018! Cooking is also a passion and at Christmas 2018 he single handily (well nearly) cooked a delicious four course meal for the staff in our offices.
