NLWA Eco Park South

Edmonton

Back to Energy & Waste Sector

Race Cottam Associates have been appointed as part of the Waterman Group and Taylor Woodrow team to deliver the Ecopark South phase of the North London Waste Authority’s (NLWA) plan for a £1.2bn sustainable waste management hub at Edmonton EcoPark South.

The Brief

The NLWA, one of the largest waste authorities in the UK, will create the new facility across three buildings that will increase recycling rates and invest in a sustainable future for the local communities.

The Design

The new facility will have the capacity to recycle 135,000 tonnes of waste every year, including wood, metals and plastic that would otherwise be sent to landfill. The building will serve two functions, being used as a Recycling and Fuel Preparation Facility with the other half being transformed into a public Reuse and Recycling Centre. For the first time ever residents and businesses will be able to drop off their recycling and non-recycling waste directly at the EcoPark.

The Outcome

Race Cottam are developing the concept design by Grimshaw Architects to RIBA stages 4-7.
