The redevelopment of a steeply sloping brownfield Industrial site on Edward Street and Brocco Street created 32 1-bedroom apartments and 417 student units arranged in cluster flats of 3, 4 & 5 beds and self-contained studios.
The Brief
This mixed private residential, student accommodation scheme is situated in the up and coming St. Vincent’s Quarter of Sheffield.
The Design
The blocks are arranged around a centrally placed landscaped courtyard which provides amenity space, biophilic design and a wildlife area. Amenities include a retail unit, a spacious common room and laundry facilities.
The Outcome
Race Cottam have provided a considered design, ensuring the local landmark ‘St Vincent’s Church tower’ remains prominent on the Sheffield Skyline. The new development forms one side to the new urban park proposed by Sheffield City Council on the adjacent site.
