Marie Braithwaite
Architectural Assistant
Marie is passionate about sustainable urban design. In 2018 she was awarded the RIBA Boyd Auger Scholarship for research into adaptation to climate change in Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. She has also undertaken research for her Part II in Lima and the US and is currently the Vice President of Uni of Westminster Climate Action Network (WestCAN).
Her project experience includes large residential schemes for public sector clients and private client bespoke residential projects. Since joining Race Cottam she has begun working on DfE Education schemes and a flagship manufacturing facility.
Marie is a qualified bricklayer! And has worked on construction projects in the UK and Mozambique, and in a carpentry workshop in South Africa.
Her dream commission would be to help masterplan a city to strengthen climatic and social resilience using green infrastructure and public space.
There is no clear winner in the buildings Marie is passionate about but her favourite city is Singapore for their approach to climatically sensitive design and public space.
