Bryony Preston

Architect

Bryony is the sustainability lead for Race Cottam Associates. She is a certified Passive House Designer with an additional Level 3 qualification from the Green Skills Academy in Energy Efficiency of Traditional and Older Buildings. She will lead the practice in developing skills as well as undertaking research.

Bryony's previous experience has been predominantly in the residential sector , including affordable housing for over 55s independent living, sheltered accommodation and extra care. This includes a range of small-scale individual dwellings extending to large scale developments with apartments and a range of mixed housing.

Bryony's expertise in conservation began with working on a Georgian house and she has experience in HLF funded projects including a medieval timber frame hall.

On top of her work here at Race Cottam, once a week Bryony teaches at the University of Manchester for the Atelier CPU. Holding weekly one-to-one design tutorials with the students, Bryony supports the students with representation, design, planning, building regulations, detailing and the Atelier’s theoretical computational approach.

Outside of work Bryony enjoys running, drawing and tending to her plants.
