We are extremely proud of Enfinium’s West Yorkshire energy from waste facility for preventing over 2 million tonnes of emissions entering the atmosphere. Having been operational since 2015, Race Cottam provided concept designs to support Hitachi Zosen Inova & Sisk during their successful bid process and developed the detailed architectural solutions for the £300m multifuel plant at the SSE run Ferrybridge power station as they were constructed.
Energy from waste facilities produce around half the emissions per tonne of waste compared to the emissions emitted per tonne of waste in landfill. Ferrybridge 1 energy from waste facility has reached a milestone in diverting 6 million tonnes of unrecyclable waste from landfill. In doing so, Ferrybridge 1’s operations have prevented approximately 2,250,000 tonnes of CO₂e from entering the atmosphere. The energy from waste sector has delivered significant emissions savings as it increasingly displaces landfill from the UK’s waste system and Race Cottam is proud to be a part of it.
We extend our congratulations to the entire Efinium team and everyone involved in this remarkable achievement!
