Barnsley Doncaster Rotherham Waste Amey Cespa

Race Cottam were appointed to prepare concept designs, architectural and landscape information in support of the PFI bid to develop this former coke washing site as a central waste facility that serves the Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham areas.

Mechanical & Biological treatment are used to separate and reduce the volume of waste prior to a thermal treatment process that generates electricity and is CHP enabled.

The site at Bolton Road is on the edge of the Green Belt and adjacent to the recently created Brooklands Park. The architectural and landscape approaches carefully consider the visual impact of the scheme but seek to create a landmark to the Dearne Valley Regeneration area.
