RCA Scoops Building Better Healthcare Award 02 Nov 2016

Race Cottam Associates are thrilled to have been awarded the Building Better Healthcare Award for Best Internal Environment for St. Luke's Hospice, Sheffield, as well as being Highly Commended for our Sheffield Children's Hospital Theatres scheme.  The awards, held annually in London, celebrate innovation and improvement in the built environment, medical devices and people working in the healthcare industry.  The best Internal Environment Award within the Patient Environment category recognises an outstanding therapeutic space that enhances the overall experience of patients, staff and visitors through an effective approach to interior design.

"We are thrilled receive recognition for our design for St. Luke's Hospice," said Race Cottam Director Dave Cottam. "The final scheme is a result of a great deal of hard work by our team who have engaged with the St Luke's team at every stage of the project.  Our aim was to create a scheme which would change the model for end-of-life care by creating a warm and welcoming environment that supported a more personal approach."  The scheme, which was delivered by Interserve Construction, has been warmly received by patients, staff and visitors alike, and as one patient describes "has something very rare and special about it".
